Going from Employee to Self-Employed. Making the transition to go full time entrepreneur is a tough one. Today I'd like to share a few tips for those of you considering to take that leap soon or have already done so.

▶️Respect your work time

Block off time that is specifically for you to the work in your business. And treat that time the same way you did the time you went in to work for someone else. Did you answer personal calls while were working for someone else? Did you mindlessly browse the Internet? You need to keep that same energy for your own business. I know this one's a struggle because one of the main benefits of working for yourself is that you have no boss micromanaging you. But this leaves a lot of room for things to just not get done and we have to learn to manage ourselves.

▶️Treat your business like a business so your friends and family can do the same

A lot of us entrepreneurs do not get the respect and support we want from our family members in our new ventures. But how can they take us serious if we don’t take ourselves or our businesses seriously? Stop treating your business like a hobby. The more legit they see we are, the more respect we will see from them. And understand this, your friends and family are not obligated to support you! We want the respect but forcing them to buy your product or service that they may not even need is really not fair.

▶️Have systems in place

This is the biggest and most underrated. And it is so so important. A lot is us don’t even realize what it means to have systems and streamline processes in our businesses. When in real life, all of the jobs we’ve ever worked have these in place. When companies hire, there’s a processes or system in place. From taking time off, getting promotions, firing, daily tasks, the list goes on. We followed them so well as employees but fail to take that valuable training and apply it to our own businesses. Why?

✨The sooner you get systems set up, the smoother your business will run and the faster you will grow. I just did a free masterclass last week where I touched on this.

I'd love to share with you one of my biggest AHA moments I experienced recently in my business.⁠⁠

Maybe you’ve struggled similarly with posting consistently on Instagram and getting the results you want from it. And it can be quite defeating.⁠⁠

When I first decided I was going to do social media marketing, I was constantly struggling with creating content, posting consistently, and not knowing what to say. ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
I was literally spending HOURS each day editing photos, creating captions, & designing my feed. And another SEVERAL hours creating content for YouTube as well. It was DRAINING. 😅 So I would often give up, 𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒂𝒊𝒏'𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒚 𝒈𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕. Lol⁠⁠

I knew that something had to change.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
After trying and failing and trying again, I finally had my big aha moment and was able to come up with a simple system that allows me to post consistently & spend less than 1 hour a day on Instagram.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬:⁠⁠

1️⃣ I decided on a specific posting pattern. This helped me achieve the visual theme I wanted on my feed. And helped me choose my photos in advance. I was able to schedule a month and a half worth of posts using this method. ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
2️⃣ I pre-determined my captions. Even if I don’t get to writing them all in one day, I still know what I’m going to write about on each day of that planned month. So that way I'm never scrambling to think of what caption to write.⁠⁠

3️⃣ I organized my photos and captions in Canva and kept an excel spreadsheet to help me track my posts. ⁠⁠

Personally, I feel great. Much different than I did last year around this time. There's just more hope and a better outlook on what the rest of the year holds. ⁠⁠

I've managed to keep to my theme for the year and have kept my word to myself. Crushing all of my goals and I just know this next quarter will be filled with even larger goals being met. ⁠⁠

I 100% believe in using tools to help run your business, especially time saving tools. I use a lot of different tools but I will share just 3 of my favorite productivity / time saving tools that I use to stay organized and on task in my business.⁠⁠

𝟏 - 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐯𝐚⁠⁠
I create EVERYTHING on Canva. It has so many capabilities and it's FREE. I pay a small fee every month for the pro account because I like having more options but you literally can do everything you need to do on there for free. I create all social media graphics, presentation slides, planners, pdf downloads, ebooks, youtube video graphics ... you name it, I create it on Canva. ⁠⁠

𝟐 - 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 ⁠⁠
This is where my whole entire life lives 😂 I laugh but I'm not joking. All of my business systems and processes are set up through Notion. I not only use it to organize my business life but also my personal life. It's amazing and I can't wait to share more info with all of you about it. ⁠⁠

𝟑 - 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞⁠⁠
I use this mainly because it easily syncs to almost every other program out there and it makes finding my important files and documents much easier. I used to save everything on an external hard drive, which I still do, but also saving things in Google Drive allows me to easily access the files no matter what computer or device I'm on (phone, tablet, etc). While the hard drive requires me to be on a computer that the drive can be physically plugged into in order to access the files. ⁠⁠

Quitting my comfortable work from home job that I was pretty darn good at ... to become a full time entrepreneur. ⁠⁠

I had saved up $20k and thought, "𝘺𝘦𝘱 ... 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩, 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸." In hindsight, I definitely didn't have enough!😂 But I was so eager to leave so it was still worth the risk. ⁠⁠

While it was a huge risk to take, so many good things have come from me taking that risk: ⁠⁠

After trying and failing and trying again, I finally had my big aha moment and was able to come up with a simple system that allows me to post consistently & spend less than 1 hour a day on Instagram.⁠⁠

𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬:⁠⁠

1️⃣ I decided on a specific posting pattern. This helped me achieve the visual theme I wanted on my feed. And helped me choose my photos in advance. I was able to schedule a month and a half worth of posts using this method. ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
2️⃣ I pre-determined my captions. Even if I don’t get to writing them all in one day, I still know what I’m going to write about on each day of that planned month. So that way I'm never scrambling to think of what caption to write.⁠⁠

3️⃣ I organized my photos and captions in Canva and kept an excel spreadsheet to help me track my posts. ⁠⁠
